- Acknowledge the Issue
“I understand you’re seeing a black line on your scanned or copied pages. This is often caused by dirt or marks on the scanner glass. Let’s clean it together.”
- Locate the ADF Scan Glass
“Please open the scanner cover. Look for the narrow strip of glass used for ADF scans. It’s usually separate from the main flatbed glass. If you’re unsure, you can check your printer’s User Guide for the exact location.”
- Inspect for Debris
“Now, inspect that glass strip carefully. Common culprits include tape, glue, ink marks, dust, or even staples. Ink marks can be hard to see, so look closely.”
- Clean the Glass
“Use a clean, soft cloth slightly moistened with water or glass cleaner. Wipe the glass thoroughly to remove any marks or dirt.”
- Check the ADF Underside
“Next, check the underside of the ADF for any debris or marks and clean it as well.”
- Test the Fix
“Please perform a scan or copy again to see if the black line is gone.”
- If the Line Persists
“If the line is still there, repeat the cleaning process. Sometimes marks are hard to spot.”
