the dwory system is a social practice in which the bridefamily gives money, property, and valuable gifts to the groom and his family during the marriage, it is a deeply rooted tradition in many parts of india and south asia. even thouth dowry is intended to provide financial security, it has now become a burden for the bride family.
The dowry system often results in the exploitation of the bride family many low- incime families struggle to meet dowry expectation. in extreme cses, failing to meet dowry demands leads to harassment, domestic violence and even dowry- related deaths, making it a serious social problem.
despite laws like the dowry prohibition act odf 1961, the practice still exist in some parys of society. to completely remove the dowry system from society, an a warness campaign and proper enforcement of womens safety laws are required. education and providing equal rights and opportunities for womens can also help to eradicate for creating a society that values equality, respect, and dignity for everyone.
