*Typically, HP will continue to manufacture ink many years after a printer has been discontinued. At a certain point though, the cost to manufacture old ink formulations becomes too expensive and there aren't enough customers to sell it to. So, ink eventually will be phased out after careful planning. The good news is that the newer ink formulations offer richer and brighter colors that are also fade-resistant.

The cartridges themselves are a smaller footprint and use more recyclable plastics making them more environmentally friendly. There are lots of good reasons to switch to new ink, including the cost savings of ink with our HP Instant Ink program.
