Earn By Time

General Inquiry

Chat:

Thank you for your interest in Earn by Time mode, where Dashers can earn a guaranteed rate for their active time plus 100% of any customer tips and applicable promotions on top. Active time includes the time you’re actively on a delivery - it begins the moment you accept an order and ends once you complete the order, including any wait time at the restaurant or merchant.

The guaranteed hourly rate may vary by time or location, but you’ll always earn the rate you see at the start of your dash. Tips may be less frequent when you choose to earn by time, but the offered rate is calculated so you can earn reliably and build in time to dash to meet your financial goals. Dasher declined/unassigned from an order
(Earn by Time Mode Pilot/Switched automatically to Earn per offer)

Chat: When you Earn by Time you can decline up to one order per hour. If you decline or unassign yourself from a second order after you have declined or unassigned one in the previous hour your Earn by Time dash will end. You can always immediately start another dash and Earn per Offer. If an order times out because you neither accept nor decline, this will count toward your one decline per hour. Please click here for more information.

With Empathy- acknowledgement

I know it’s important to understand how Earn by Time works so you can make the most of your dash. When using Earn by Time, you can decline or unassign one order per hour. If a second order is declined or unassigned within the same hour, your Earn by Time dash will end.

Don’t worry—you can immediately start a new dash and switch to Earn per Offer. Just a heads-up: if an order times out because you don’t take any action, it will count as your one decline for the hour.

Order was canceled or Dasher unassign from the order

Chat: If you unassign yourself from a delivery, you will unfortunately, not get paid for any of the time spent on that delivery after accepting the order and the unassign will count towards your completion rate. However, If a customer cancels, you will be paid the guaranteed active hourly rate from the time you accept to the time the order is canceled and it will not affect your cancellation rate. You can go ahead and click here for more information.

We understand that sometimes things don’t go as planned. If you unassign yourself from a delivery, unfortunately, you won’t be paid for the time spent after accepting the order, and it will count towards your completion rate. However, if a customer cancels the order, you’ll still receive the guaranteed active hourly rate from the time you accept the order until it’s canceled, and it won’t impact your completion rate.

Dasher inbounds with questions about why is the amount they earned does not match with the offered hourly rate $3.95

Chat/Phone: I just want to set proper expectations. The amount you will see is only the accumulated earnings you will get if you dash in an hour, which does not mean that you will get that amount on top of your total earnings. But keep in mind that earning per hour always depends on how many orders you complete in that hour the moment you accept the order. It's almost the same if you choose earn per offer; the deliveries you complete really matter.

Earn by Time doesn't mean that you will be paid $23, $26, or $29 an hour for each passing hour of your Dash; this also doesn't mean that you will be paid by the dollar amount per delivery.

Earn by Time means you will be paid the dollar amount for each delivery only if that delivery took you an hour to complete. For instance, if a delivery only took you 30 minutes to complete, that would mean that you would be getting half of the dollar amount for that delivery alone, tips and promotions included.
