Hi There, This project immediately caught my attention because I’ve built mobile-first inspection and asset management platforms before, with QR tagging, photo evidence, and full audit trails exactly what you’re aiming for. I can deliver a secure, responsive web app that manages your building portfolio and fire door assets while keeping UK compliance, audit, and evidence requirements in mind. My approach would be to design the system so inspectors can easily work on mobile or tablet, create inspections, upload photos, raise defects with severity levels, and track actions through to completion, while admins have a clear dashboard and exportable, audit-ready reports.

For the tech, I recommend Node.js with Express for the backend to handle secure workflows and smart database operations, paired with PostgreSQL for robust asset and inspection relationships, and React with Next.js on the frontend for a fast, mobile-first experience using Tailwind CSS. Photos would be securely stored in S3-compatible storage hosted in the UK or EU to ensure GDPR compliance. This stack keeps the system scalable and maintainable, with the upside being smooth mobile inspection workflows and transparent reporting, and the only tradeoff being careful initial schema design and testing to make sure defects, inspections, and reporting all tie together cleanly.

Before we get started, I just want to clarify a few things so I can plan accurately: should CAPEX vs reactive vs PPM cost capture be included in the MVP or later? Do you prefer photo storage on existing hosting or a new EU-compliant storage setup? Are there existing user accounts to migrate, or is this a fresh start? Do you want notifications for defect updates, or can that wait for later? And finally, do you have any authentication preferences for inspectors and clients, or should I handle a basic login system for MVP?
