SCORES & RATINGS EMAIL

Thank you for contacting Dun & Bradstreet.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused regarding your company’s credit scores and ratings. We appreciate your concern and would like to provide you with some guidance on how to improve your credit profile with Dun & Bradstreet.

To establish and enhance your Paydex score, please ensure the following steps are taken:

Share Your DUNS Number: Provide your DUNS Number to your suppliers or vendors and request that they report your payment activity to Dun & Bradstreet. Update Business Information: Keep your business profile up to date to ensure vendors have accurate information when reporting. Establish Trade Lines: Dun & Bradstreet requires at least three payment experiences from two different vendors. These reported payments will undergo a verification process, which may take up to 30 business days. Once verified, they will be reflected as trade lines on your company’s credit report.

For your reference, please find below additional information about Dun & Bradstreet’s data and reporting process:

Trade Payment Data: This refers to commercial payment information collected from thousands of companies globally. Vendors who report this data are known as Trade Vendors. Reporting Frequency: Trade Vendors report data on their own schedules, which may be monthly or quarterly. Not all transactions are reported, and some vendors only report accounts with balances above certain thresholds. Confidentiality: Dun & Bradstreet does not disclose the names of reporting vendors unless a formal dispute is raised and the vendor permits disclosure. Payment Methods: Payments made via credit card may not be reported. Payments made “on terms” (i.e., within agreed payment terms) are more likely to be included. Address Accuracy: Ensure that the shipping and billing addresses used in transactions match the address listed in your Dun & Bradstreet profile to avoid discrepancies.

Did you know:

Paying an invoice in full using a credit card may result in such information about that payment not being reported to Dun & Bradstreet.
Paying “on terms” means that when a vendor extends you credit, you agree to pay the business that issues the invoice within the terms agreed upon with the vendor. “On terms” payment arrangements are more likely to be reported to Dun & Bradstreet by a Trade Vendor. Trade payments associated with shipments sent to a different address than the address in your Dun & Bradstreet report, such as your home address or to another office location, may not appear in your Dun & Bradstreet report. Please go to D-U-N-S Manager to view your business address in your Dun & Bradstreet report. The “High Credit” amount showing on your Dun & Bradstreet report is not to be confused with a “Credit Limit” you have set up with a particular Trade Vendor. The High Credit amount is the highest amount owed reported by that Trade Vendor in the last rolling 12-month period. Not all trade is reported to Dun & Bradstreet monthly. Generally, Trade Vendors report monthly and some report quarterly. For example, if you pay 12 months of invoice payments to a single vendor, that does not mean you will have 12 different Payment Experiences in your Dun & Bradstreet report. There will be only one Payment Experience per 12-month cycle on your Dun & Bradstreet report for each Trade Vendor. A new or current Payment Experience will replace a prior Payment Experience from the same Trade Vendor.
Typically, banks, insurance companies, and certain credit card companies do not submit Trade Payment Data to Dun & Bradstreet.

Below are definitions on ratings.

VIABILITY SCORE assesses the probability that a company will no longer be in business within the next 12 months, compared to all businesses in the U.S. Dun & Bradstreet Data Cloud. The Viability Score is best used when ranking all businesses within your portfolio.

PORTFOLIO COMPARISON compares a company to businesses assigned a similar “model segment.” This calibrated view of the score shows the specific viability of this company. The four risk models are Available Financial Data, Established Trade Payments, Limited Trade Payments, and Firmographics & Business Activity.

DATA DEPTH INDICATOR represents the level of predictive data available for a company. This indicator is based on a scale from A-M, where A represents an expansive payment history, and G reflects a minimal level of data, such as firmographics only. H-M are assigned to businesses with severe risk circumstances.

COMPANY PROFILE describes a company based on a combination of four categories: available financial data, number of trade payments, company size, and years in business. The Company Profile is characterized as a letter ranging from A-Z; where A describes a company with comprehensive data, all the way to X, which reflects a company with minimal data available. Y represents a branch, and Z represents a subsidiary.

D&B FAILURE SCORE The D&B Failure Score predicts the likelihood that a business will seek legal relief from its creditors, cease business operations without paying all its creditors in full, voluntarily withdraw from business operation and leave unpaid obligations, file for bankruptcy, or make an arrangement for the benefit of creditors over the next 12 months. Risk information is classified in three ways, from the most specific (raw score) to the broadest (class).

D&B PAYDEX The D&B PAYDEX Score is a concise, dollar-weighted indicator of past payment performance as reported to Dun & Bradstreet that summarizes recent payment experiences reflecting risk in ongoing payment habits.

D&B DELINQUENCY SCORE The D&B Delinquency Score predicts the likelihood that a company will pay in a severely delinquent manner (91+ days past due) during the next 12 months. Risk information is classified in three ways, from the most specific (raw score) to the broadest (class).

The D&B Supplier Stability Indicator (SSI) predicts the likelihood that a business will file for bankruptcy, cease operations, or become inactive over the next 3 months based on information in D&B database. The SSI Scoring System uses statistical probabilities to classify businesses into a 0-10 score scale where 0 represents businesses that have the lowest probability of ceasing operations/becoming inactive, and 10 represents businesses with the highest probability of ceasing operations/becoming inactive. The foundation for the SSI and underlying models is D&B's global database of suppliers and the observed characteristics of these suppliers.

The SSI Level of Insight is a descriptive dimension that indicates at a glance how much predictive insight is available on a business based on information reported to D&B. It also has special categories that help identify businesses that are under high-risk scenarios such as Open Bankruptcy, Ceasing Operations, Business Deterioration, and others. Level of Insight is available on all suppliers, regardless of geographical location. The Level of Insight is derived from the Data Depth indicator which measures at a more granular level the amount of predictive data available on a business and has been used in its risk assessment. In general, the higher the percentage of predictive data attributes, the greater is its Data Depth and Level of Insight.

D&B Rating is a proprietary indicator that quickly assesses the creditworthiness of a company based on the financial strength of the business, payment behavior, age of the company, company size, and other important factors. As the D&B Rating changes, both the Current and Previous rating will be displayed.
