Properties of Propane:

has no smell; odorant(Ethyl mercaptan) is added as a liquid; boiling point -44 F. lighter than water. it expands so refill should be only 80%. as a vapor; vapor is 1 1\2 times heavier than air miscellaneous. Expands 17 times more than water.

Ethyl mercaptan is added to odorless gasses to give them a warning odor; odorless gas (butane, propane, petroleum). to discover if there's a gas leak.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Aboveground Tank

the color of the tanks matters. propane tank use light color so that it wouldn't heat up.

parts:

Liquid Withdrawal Valve

Liquid Withdrawal Dip Tube

Fixed Liquid Level Gauge Dip tube

float Gauge Assembly(monitors the tank

Pressure Relief Valve & Spring

Liquid Withdrawal Belly valve (when the customers want the tank remove, LWBV are use to remove all the propane inside)

ASME aboveground tank

Float Gauge/dial gauge shows the tank percentage. Looks like a faucet, a handwheel, a circular switch.

Service valve/ regulator, on and off valve, righty tightly lefty lousy

Filler Valve, Attach the hose to fill the tank.

Fixed Maximum Liquid Level Gauge, only used when the tank is being filled, connected to the tank gauge

Vapor Equalizing Valve, lessen the propane in the tank when it got overfilled

Typical/smaller gauges on an aboveground. pressure relief and liquid withdrawal valve.

Tank Gauges, looks like a clock/compass

Older tank gauge, only shows a line that indicates it's percentage.

ASME underground Tank

buried all the way only the neck shows in the above ground.

It's color isn't important as it isn't hit by the sunlight. 80% - 85% should be filled.

Dome lead cover, it isn't locked.

What is a Propane Cylinder?

• Cylinders range widely in size and use. • Cylinders fall into two groups of propane service, liquid and vapor. • Unlike tanks which are part of a stationary installations, propane cylinders are portable storage containers. can be bring anywhere with you. • 100#, 200#, 300# and 420# cylinders can also be part of a stationary installations and would be treated as bulk in some situations. (# - pound)
