Dissecting the Decleration

(Events leading to Decleration)
- After the boston massacre and boston tea party, they decided to take real action with their problem with Britan petition

Problems:
- No *taxation without representation or its tyranny*
- removal of basic rights
- removal of self government

- colonists sent a formal request (petition) in response to all the acts and hoped that Britan would give them Independence (the Olive Brance Peace by representation)

- The first continential congress met in Philadelphia to discuss what was happening in the colonies

On April 17, 1775 the Lelington and Concord battle happened

- The Comitte of 5 = John Adams, Roger Sherman, Benjamin Franklin, Robert R. Luigston, and Thomas Jefferson
