A security freeze is a restriction that prohibits Nationwide Consumer Agency (NCRA's) from disclosing the contents of a consumer's credit report to anyone requesting the report except:
- for the purpose of applying for new credit

WHAT IF THE PROTECTED CONSUMER DOES'NT HAVE A CREDIT FILE?
- A Thin File is a credit file created for consumers who do not already have credit file as a result of lack of credit history. Documentation must still be provided to verify 16-17 consumer's identity and the authorized representative's identity. Once Thin File is created, Equifax will place a Security Freeze in the Thin File.
