In modern Nigeria, 1 in 3 children are OOS in Nigeria:12.4 million children never attended school, and 5.9 million left school early, either because of financial issues or doing illegal labor.
All these primary issues are focused on the concept that Nigerian students aged 6 to 18 in rural areas rarely have the chance to finish their educational life before they can begin their future careers and dreams. With Government promises being ineffective in the state, parents are left with desperate measures of fatal decisions they will make for their children, believing it is better than suffering in the hands of financial poverty. And it's most directly at women and girls.
Many still believe a woman's hands and mind should be focused on housework and child-care, as well as being a servant to her husband's every need and word. As in their theroies having women take on a man's work will make them "ill". In many traditional areas, having women in power is seen as a "taboo" because they're meant to be seen and not heard, and not to express opinions on what is right or wrong in their society, as it's part of their concept of being a good wife to her husband.
This concept is called Early Marriage. In some countries, girls as young as 9 years old are eligible to get married to men who are twice older than them.
