Buy: 1. Mimosa Hostilis Root bark (powder) (50g) 2. Distilled Water 3. 1-Litre glass jar (with lid) 4. Lye (sodium hydroxide/caustic soda) (do not allow to touch the skin or eyes. Use only cold water when mixing with Lye, hot water will react violently.) 5. White vinegar 6. Naptha (lighter fluid) 7. Funnel 8. Glass measuring jug 9. Turkey Baster 10. mg accurate scale 11. Non-iodized salt 12. Plastic wrap 13. Glass roasting dish Steps: 1. Put 50g of Mimosa Hostilis Bark Powder into 1-litre glass jar. 2. Bring 200mL distilled water and 60mL white vinegar to a barely visible boiling point. 3. Pour hot water-vinegar solution into 1-litre glass jar with Mimosa Hostilis Bark Powder. 4. Boil some tap water, turn stove off. 5. Heat Bath: Shake 1-litre bottle of Bark-Water-Vinegar solution, place in pot of hot water (stove should be off). Leave for 1 hour (shake to mix a few times, do not let settle). If water cools, reheat. 6. Heat 100mL distilled water, when pot starts to barely boil, add 30g non-iodized salt and stir until dissolved. 7. Once salt is fully dissolved, pour water-salt solution into 1-litre bottle of Bark-Water-Vinegar solution. 8. Add 50g Lye to 1-litre bottle of Bark-Water-Vinegar-salt solution. 9. Top off 1-litre bottle with 140mL distilled water. (total volume of 1-litre bottle should be ~700mL). 10. Shake 1-litre bottle well. 11. Place bottle in heat bath (see step 5). 12. Pour 50mL Naptha into 1-litre bottle, shake and roll (figure 8 motion) 30 seconds. 13. Uncap to release pressure and replace cap, let separate, give another heat bath. Repeat this step 4 times (this entire step including repetitions should take 45 minutes. Do not give 1hr heat bath each time). 14. Use turkey baster to suck out Naptha off the top of the 1-litre bottle, squirt into glass roasting dish. Try not to suck up anything other than the top layer. each pull should be milky white, clear, or yellow. If you suck up any of the mix under the top layer or if you are struggling to get the last bit, squirt it into a separate glass and wait again for separation. Use eye dropper to collect. 15. Put plastic wrap over dish in an airtight manner and put directly into freezer. 16. Let freeze for 12-18 hours. 17. Remove dish and quickly pour out any remaining Naptha from the dish. Flip upside down on a cloth for a few minutes to ensure all Naptha is drained. If you have multiple dishes, do this step one dish at a time. 18. Place all dishes against a wall and use a fan to blow on them for at least 20 mins. If the dish still smells like lighter fluid, it has not been enough time. 19. Use a razor blade to scrape crystals and oil together. 20. Place crystals and oil onto white paper to let dry.
